about me

I write, speak about, work, advise, and invest in the cryptocurrency industry, with a distinct focus on individual privacy and sovereignty. Often, I do these things humorously (sometimes even intentionally). By way of disclosure, I am currently:

Formerly, I was the interim CEO at the Mina Foundation, interim CEO at the Interchain Foundation, the founding Executive Director of the Zcash Foundation, and a developer advocate at a Bitcoin and Ethereum API startup. I have seen some shit, let me tell you.

about bitbanter

This is my place without a platform, an unfettered outlet for my greatest joy: writing and performing satire. Most of the posts will be sardonic. Some will be serious. Even fewer of them might be funny. Everything is free and permissively licensed, and you can avoid this hastily constructed website in its entirety by subscribing via RSS.

My original plan was to publish once a week, but having (very obviously) failed spectacularly at that, I've decided my cadence will be dictated by the rare intersection of my free time and the Muse's reluctant visits. If it's been a while since a post, take heart: inevitably, there is always something to lampoon in our industry. And reality writ large, frankly. Even if months (or years) pass, there will always be another post. (at least, until I leave reality writ small)

No matter what bitbanter's trajectory, I hope you find something here that makes you laugh, makes you think, or makes you wonder why (I'd jeopardize my career to make jokes).

thanks

The CSS for bitbanter is a modified version of spcss, a beautiful, minimalist stylesheet provided under the MIT License. The font is one of my favorites: EB Garamond as developed by Georg Duffner and provided under the Open Font License. The musical snippet at the beginning of the audio posts is one of my favorite covers of my favorite songs of my favorite video game albums, by the eminently talented Blake Robinson.
